Are lights included in the proposal?

Due to public input, the proposal does not include the installation of lights at Battlepoint Park.

Why do fields #4 and #5 at Battlepoint Park need to be replaced?

Fields #4 and #5 were last renovated 24 years ago.  The crumb rubber has blown away and the remaining sand is compacted to an unsafe level.  The drainage no longer works.  When it rains, the fields fill up with water.  When the fields are dry, there are extremely dusty. 

Why does Bainbridge Island need two new athletic fields?

If Bainbridge Island were to keep its athletic fields in good condition, it would need six well-drained grass fields to meet the current demand by soccer and lacrosse for athletic fields.  Because of the unlimited use of an in-fill system, adding those two fields would be the equivalent of adding six grass playing fields.
