How much will it cost?

Preliminary Budget Estimates are for $1.5 million. We will have more details when we have the preliminary design. 

How will it be paid for?

BIYSC currently has $250,000 of its own funds that it will commit to the project.  The Parks Department has also committed to the project $200,000 from the remaining Gazzam Lake bond money passed in 1995.   Due to the project ranking 12 out of 76 projects in Washington State, it is anticipated that Washington State’s Committee for Outdoor Recreation will contribute a $300,000 grant.  BIYSC is applying for grants and will be applying for a grant from Bainbridge Island Rotary in July.  In addition, the project will pursue corporate sponsorship, special events and other fundraising activities.  We are halfway there!

How much will it cost the Bainbridge Island taxpayer? 
There will be no new taxes to pay for this project.
